Dr. Wayne Peterson is known for his gentle and creative touch. He enjoys helping each of his patients improve their health, appearance, and self-esteem by creating the smile of their dreams,and also maintaining the health and function of their teeth, gums, and bite.
Received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology after studying pre-dental curriculum in 1974 at Washington State University. Went to dental school at Washington University and received my D.M.D. in 1977. Practiced from 1978-1985 in Genesee, ID and then moved to Palouse View Dental in Moscow where I practiced until December 2001 when I opened my new office.
In 1998 I took a continuing education continuum course in cosmetic dentistry at UCLA. In this course I was exposed to clinicians and educators from all over North America and Europe. Having been inspired by the first continuum, I enrolled and completed the second under the direction of Dr. Brian LeSage, an outstanding clinician and educator practicing in Beverly Hills, CA. After these initial exposures, I became a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and have attended annual meetings in San Antonio, San Francisco, Boston and Honolulu. At these meetings I have had the opportunity to hear, work with, and meet some of the finest cosmetic dentistry clinicians in the world today. Having seen so many great clinicians, I decided to follow the curriculum of the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Studies under the direction of Dr. Frank Spear. I have taken all of the lecture courses offered so far by the Seattle Institute as well as hands-on participation courses in Facially Generated Treatment Planning, Occlusion in Clinical Practice and Advanced Occlusion in Clinical Practice. Since becoming somewhat of a continuing education junkie, I became a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, which has requirements for continuing education hours to maintain membership far beyond what is required by the state of Idaho. They also sponsor internationally known lecturers for courses in our area, which I attend quite often. I am also a member of the Intermountain Odontology Study Club, a division of the Seattle Study Club which offers continuing education courses on various dental subjects on a monthly basis.
Other areas of interest to me are my wife Pam and our 15 year old son, Sean; whitewater kayaking, karate, jujitsu, gardening, sailing, skiing, traveling, camping, astrophotography and remodeling our underground house. I have also recently become a hockey dad, something I knew nothing about, but am learning quickly.
